The RVAC provides Basic Life Support Defibrillator-level ambulance service. Since beginning operations, the Corps' volunteers have answered over 19,800 calls for assistance. Over 35,000 families and business owners are within our service area.
The Corps' general hours of operation are from 6:00 p.m. till 12:00 midnight, most days of the week. There are also many nights when there are 12:00 midnight to 6:00 a.m. crews. Our ultimate goal is to provide 24-hour coverage on weekends. Since all our members are unpaid volunteer professionals, services are dependent upon the number of members and their availability.
Crews include members who have completed N.Y.S. Emergency Medical Technician and Defibrillation training.
RVAC is a participant in the New York City EMS Mutual Aid Radio System.

Rig 6, the RVAC ambulance, is a well-maintained four-year-old vehicle with the capacity to transport up to five patients. It carries a variety of medical supplies and equipment including bandages, dressings, burn sheets, glucose, oxygen, and a defibrillator. These items are used for the treatment of patients' ailments, as dictated by the various emergencies encountered by our ambulance crews.
Wheelchairs, canes, walkers and other patient-assist supplies are available on free loan to residents. We also gladly accept equipment that residents no longer need.

Please note: This is based on crew availability. For that reason, we need as much advance notice as possbile (at least 48 hours, please).

The RVAC has sponsored and participated in health fairs for the community, benefiting thousands of individuals. Informative demonstrations and literature focusing on first aid and health information have been presented to local schools and neighborhood groups. Additionally, Corps members provide free blood pressure screenings for residents at the RVAC base as well as various locations throughout the community.
